A Samhain Blessing

Black cat silhouetted against a sunset - A samhain blessing from The Witches of Doyle

Since Samhain (known to many as Halloween) is the witch’s version of New Year’s Eve, it's a great day to remove all the old, stagnant energy in your home and make way for the new.

Here’s how I psychically clear and bless my house before my sisters and I start our own Witch's Tea party. (And with all that's been going on in Doyle, trust me, we need a good clearing).

You’ll need:

  • Sage (either a leaf or a bundle)

  • Something to light the sage with

  • A small plate to catch any ashes (I like to use an abalone shell for this).

You’re going to have to walk through every room in your home to do this. So first, figure out which the last room you’ll walk through will be and crack open one window there.

Make sure all the other doors and windows in your house are shut.

Next, light your sage and blow out the flame so the leaf or bundle smolders. Starting in your first room, say:

Samhain blessings be, I purge my home of old and negative energy.

Keep reciting this chant in your head as you walk from room to room. When you reach the last room, say it again out loud and visualize any stagnant or negative energy fleeing out the window.

Shut the window.

Extinguish the sage. (If I’m using a bundle, I run it under water.)

Now, sit in a comfortable position and close your eyes. Think about your friends and loved ones who have passed to the other side and feel gratitude for all the joy and love they brought into your life. Invite them to bless your home.

And that’s it! Then go out and enjoy your Witch’s Tea Party! And if you’d like to learn more witchin’ tips, check out our FREE Kitchen Witch course, which we’ll deliver straight to your inbox.
