Legacy of the Witch Reviews are Coming In!

--By Kirsten Weiss

And here is one of my favorites so far, from a Reedsy book reviewer:

“April's husband passed away suddenly, leaving her to start a new life of her own: far from the demands of his career, she can focus on her own work and passions. She enrolls in a master's program in Pennsylvania Dutch country to get closer to her own roots and her dream of owning a Penn Dutch art business. Living in a woodland cabin, researching local hex signs, and practicing her artistic passions--what could go wrong?

Finding a dead body.

And everything starts to unravel. Witches, abnormal hex signs, strange neighbors, notes from a secret society--April's life is turned upside down. From the murdered man's cryptic message to the tarot cards in her mailbox, April must unravel the mystery and find her place in this strange new world.

Legacy of the Witch is a cozy paranormal mystery about one woman's search for meaning, but Kirsten Weiss invites the reader into the search in genius ways. The book comes with an app and interactive QR codes throughout the story. As April receives mysterious messages, readers can scan and receive them as well. I thought this was an incredibly fun touch and fit the tone of the book perfectly!

There are some parts of this book I could find cheesy--opening the book with a jogger stumbling upon a murder victim, for example. However, Weiss overcomes these pitfalls through crafting April's character into a believable heroine. Her inner monologue is believable, her inner conflicts are realistic, and her struggles are relatable.

Anyone interested in cozy reads, murder mysteries, and the paranormal should absolutely pick up Legacy of the Witch. The story stuck with me for a long time after finishing it. While I think women especially will resonate with April's search for identity, interest in witchcraft, and drive to prove herself, anyone will enjoy getting to know the characters and setting of this paranormal mystery. This is a perfect book for a cup of tea and a rainy evening.” – Tabitha Robinson, Reedsy Reviewer he
