We're Bigfoot heavy this week in the news, but it's all so fascinating! Here are my top five picks for pranormal news of the week!

1) First up, there's fresh video out of Lake Champlain that has folks buzzing about Champ, that legendary lake monster. A couple of clips show something big moving through the water in a way that doesn't look like your average fish or log. I've spent enough time around exhibits that defy easy explanations to know these sightings keep coming for a reason. Whether it's a surviving plesiosaur, something else entirely, or just really convincing water conditions, it makes you think about what might be hiding just below the surface in all those big bodies of water.

2) Why do vampires and other spooky types have acompulsion to count things — scattered seeds, grains of salt, holes in a sieve or net? Drop enough of the stuff in their path and they'd get distracted counting until dawn, giving people time to get to safety. It's such a practical, almost comical weakness for something so terrifying. Makes our museum's protective charms seem downright sensible by comparison.

3) Over in Ontario, new Sasquatch reports are stirring things up again. Witnesses described massive figures with that distinctive earthy smell stepping out of the trees, even one pair that knocked back when someone knocked on wood. The area's more farmland than deep wilderness, which adds an extra layer of surprise. Bigfoot lore has been around forever in different forms, but these kinds of accounts keep people searching the woods — and arguing about what they might really be seeing.

4) And speaking of Bigfoot, here's a fascinating YouTube video that ties into some of these bigger conversations about fairies, Bigfoot, and connections in folklore that aren't always obvious at first. Plenty to chew on there if you're in the mood for a deep dive.

5) And on the more mind-bending side, there's a new theory floating around about DMT experiences and the entities people meet there. Researchers are sketching out ways to test whether these beings could be something more than just brain tricks — using extended trips and clever experiments like getting information from a sealed room. It's the sort of thing that makes you wonder about the edges of our reality, especially when the visions are so consistently weird and non-human.

If you're enjoying these weekly dispatches and want more ghostly mysteries with a side of small-town sleuthing, you might like the stories I've lived through myself in the Perfectly Proper Paranormal Museum cozy mystery series. Swing by the museum in San Benedetto sometime — we've got signed copies on the shelves, and I'd love to chat about your own spooky encounters.
