The Ace of Pentacles: Your Tea and Tarot Card of the Day

The Ace of Pentacles

New opportunities. Manifestation. Abundance. Prosperity.

A struggling restauranteur friend of mine called to ask how best to deal with a disaster. Her car had been stolen, and the police weren't being particularly helpful. In fact, they were downright pessimistic about the odds of her getting it back. I drew the Ace of Pentacles and suggested there was an opportunity lurking in all those clouds, and a big one. I'll be honest. I didn't see it. But I've learned to trust the cards.

What happened next stunned even me. She'd been in the habit of misplacing her keys around the house, so she'd put a tracker on her keyring. She used it to track her keys and the car they were inside, stole back her car, informed the police, and got a date with a detective who hadn't been on the case (he was in a different department). The papers got wind of the story, published the name of her restaurant, and hungry guests started flooding in.

Put a "results not typical" asterisk on that tale. And I'm not recommending anyone chase down car thieves on their own. The point is, in Tarot, aces can be explosive and startling and hand you a lot more than you expected. As the first card in their suit, they represent the start of things, possibilities. The ace holds all the potential of its suit and can take channel the energies of any of its suit cards. In the case of pentacles, which represent the material plane—work, health, money, etc.—it could represent anything from a good time to start that healthy eating plan to a career opportunity.

But.

In a Tarot reading, the Ace of Pentacles doesn't call for you to sit around on the couch waiting for that opportunity to come to you. It's up to you to seize the day, take the chance, go for it. Again, maybe not quite the way my friend did, but you get the picture. No guts, no glory. Ignore an opportunity, and it goes away.

This card asks you to look for the opportunities you might have been ignoring. Now is the time to manifest.

Get off the couch. Go.
