Generosity

Generosity

Giving and receiving. Open heartedness. Kindness. Unselfishness.

We can be generous with our time. We can be generous with our attention. We can be generous with our resources. But true generosity is an act of love. It comes from the heart, without any expectation of getting something out of it for ourselves. Anything worthwhile is done for its own sake, and when we approach life with this generous attitude, we expand. Ultimately, generosity, like forgiveness, is something we do for our own peace of mind. But we also need to be generous with ourselves, and that can mean setting boundaries.

The Symbols:

A woman extends a hydrangea as a gift against a background of maple leaves—all symbols of generosity.

The Questions:

How can you be generous with the people around you? Are you giving freely, or deep down, do you expect something back?
