    Pumpkin Streusel Tea Cake

Thank you, Brigitte, for inviting Wits’ End to participate in this year’s Witch’s Tea! Sadly, there are no witches in Doyle, California, though we do have a weird amount of UFO, er, incidents. And murders. But our guests at the best little UFO-themed B&B in the Sierras don’t have to worry about those! I’m great friends with our local sheriff, and Wits’ End is as safe and comfy as they come. And one of the things we’re especially known for are our breakfasts. Now, breakfasts a

    Coming soon...

Fate! Book six in the Witches of Doyle cozy mystery series, and companion to Close Encounters of the Curd Kind is coming in November! I’d originally written the Wits’ End series as a counterpoint to the Witches of Doyle cozy mystery books. The witches see the events in Doyle (aka Murphy’s, CA) from a magical perspective; Susan, like most Doyleites, doesn’t. But I decided to challenge myself and try to tell the same set of events from the two different points of view. Fate, bo

    Breakfast time!

Wits' End welcomes you to a taste of California with our delicious breakfasts! Each of our recipes is carefully selected to surprise and delight. Some of our breakfast dishes are family traditions. Others, like our spiral-galaxy pancakes, are specialties of the house. And many of our recipes include locally-sourced ingredients from our little niche in the foothills of the California Sierras. But no matter the meal*, our breakfasts have guests returning time and again. *Yes, w

Clare’s been experiencing lost time, a sure sign of alien abduction. Help

Check out the California location for the Wits' End series

Murphys: The picturesque Sierra location that inspired Doyle. Wits' End centers around the owner of a UFO-themed B&B in "Doyle," California. There actually is a Doyle, California -- a teeny town near the Nevada border. But that's not the Doyle of Wits' End. Doyle is based on Murphys, California, a Gold Rush-era town in the Sierra foothills, between Angels Camp and Bear Valley. I grew up in California and spent many summers at Bear Valley, making sure to stop along the way in

Is Alien Abduction Covered by Insurance?

Parnassus-Bridge insurance Deanna Peters is a creative, energetic sole-owner/operator with a home-based business selling jam. So her month’s-long disappearance, along with the rest of the patrons of the Fox and Fennel pub, put a serious dent in her finances. Fortunately, Deanna had planned ahead, purchasing alien-abduction insurance. What is alien-abduction insurance? Alien abduction-insurance (AAI), also known as UFO insurance, covers you in the event of abduction by non-hum

    Paranormal News! 29 June, 2019

Maybe Susan from Wits' End should start taking over this blog, because it sure has been filling up with UFO news... 1) Strange objects seen over Kansas City, and no one seems to have any answers... 2) And Joe Rogan interviews Bob Lazaar, who is crediting with bringing Area 51 to the attention of UFO enthusiasts. And Bob's story is... out of this world. 3) Thinking of witchcraft as a career? It's not all spell casting and Tarot reading. There's also Instagram... 4) UFO museum

    Wednesday Writing Update

Yes, I'm still here! At the beginning of March, I sold my house in California and moved to Colorado. I spent the last few weeks house hunting, and I'm now in the process of closing on a mountain home. (Eeeep!). I've managed to keep writing and editing, but things like blogging fell off the radar. I should be able to get back to a more regular schedule once I'm moved in to my new place. So what's been happening? I've sent my 5th Pie Town manuscript to my editor at Kensington.

What she gets instead is the corpse of a UFO conspiracy theorist, brained with a bottle of local wine. Susan may be the owner of a UFO-themed B&B, but she doesn’t

The World of Doyle Reading Order

There are so many Doyle books out there, I started to confuse myself. So I created this infographic to keep my timelines straight. The world of Doyle includes three series: the Doyle Witch mysteries, a series of paranormal romance novellas by Doyle witch Karin Bonheim, and the Wits' End (non-paranormal) cozy mystery series. You don't have to read all three series in order (or at all), but for those who are militant about such things, here it is! The infographic should be read
